13 April 2012 Here we go again. Pilots strike, pilot sick out. Several flights have been cancelled. Here's what Air Canada has to say:-
April 13, 2012 -- Due to illegal job action by some Air Canada pilots, Air Canada is experiencing delays and some cancellations of flights today. Air Canada is making every effort to re-accommodate affected customers on alternate flights. Customers are requested to check the status of their flight at aircanada.com before leaving for the airport.
In order to facilitate changes to travel plans, Air Canada has revised its ticketing policy for customers booked on flights today and tomorrow. Those customers wishing to make alternate travel arrangements can do so without penalty, space permitting, by using Air Canada's self service rebooking tool at aircanada.com, on their mobile device, or by contacting Air Canada Reservations toll free in Canada and the U.S. at 888-247-2262; TTY: 1-800-361-8071 or Air Canada Reservations worldwide. Due to increased call centre volume, wait times will be longer than usual.
We apologize to customers affected and thank them for their patience.

Friday, 23 March 2012 Air Canada baggage handlers went on strike today cuasing airline to cancel flights. Airports effected are Toronto, Montreal Trudeau, and Toronto Pearson. Air Canada employees are banned from striking a rule the government made last week.

The Antigua and Barbuda Workers union (ABWU) met with management of Caribbean Airport Services (CAS) to discuss the strike at VC Bird International Airport.
Strike was on the week-end 9/10 July included Customer Service Reps after talks broke down. Liat took the brunt of the strike action several flights were delayed.

French Air Traffic Control Strike
Flights to your French Airport will likely be delayed, cancelled or brought forward due to French air traffic control strike.
French air traffic controllers will strike on Thursday May 19, 2016. If strike goes ahead airlines will be asked to cut back flights to and from France. Stay in close contact with your airline. Air France will take brunt of strike action. French national rail company is also striking.
French taxi drivers are threatening to join in.

If you are changing flights in France and have a long lay over in a French international arrivals lounge. Get a French visa as you will be sleeping on a cot in the lounge while other passengers sleep in a comfortable hotel bed with private bathroom. March 2016 saw 140 passengers sleeping on the floor at Orly Airport.

July 2 (Bloomberg) -- Air Canada’s mechanics and technical staff narrowly defeated a tentative 21-month labor pact yesterday as the country’s biggest airline tries to avoid a strike during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, the Globe and Mail said.
Union spokesman Chuck Atkinson said workers are hoping the Montreal-based airline will offer job protection in return for labor peace during the Winter Games in February, the newspaper reported today.
The workers voted 50.8 percent against a settlement recommended by union negotiators that would have frozen wages until March 2011, the Globe said. Union negotiators will return to the bargaining table this week with the help of a government- appointed mediator, it said.

WestJet Airlines and Air Canada both flew fuller planes in March than a year earlier, the two airlines said on Wednesday. Montreal-based Air Canada, the operating arm of ACE Aviation Holdings, said its March traffic, measured by revenue passenger miles, rose 6.4 percent from a year earlier, while overall capacity increased by 1.7 percent. Its passenger load factor rose 3.5 percentage points, to 79.8 percent, from 76.3 percent in March 2004.
Domestically, traffic increased by 3.3 percent, while capacity decreased by 1.1 percent. The load factor rose 3.4 percentage points, to 79 percent from 75.6 percent a year ago.
Air Canada, the country's major carrier, said March was the 12th straight record month for its load factor.
Number 2 carrier WestJet, Canada's leading discount airline, said its traffic for March 2005 rose 54.7 percent from a year ago, while overall capacity rose 34.7 percent.
Its load factor was up 10.1 percentage points at 77.8 percent. This compares with 67.7 percent last March.
Both airlines have benefited from the demise of discount competitor Jetsgo in early March. Reuters
