Travel, 2012 Air Canada pilots strike perhaps in the near future? If so will effect flights from Vancouver to Toronto, Montreal and in between and long hauls to Europe and South America.

13 April 2012 It's the week-end, which means Air Canada pilot sick-out! Well coordinated. Ten flights cancelled today. Here's what Air Canada has to say:-
April 13, 2012 -- Due to illegal job action by some Air Canada pilots, Air Canada is experiencing delays and some cancellations of flights today. Air Canada is making every effort to re-accommodate affected customers on alternate flights.
Customers are requested to check the status of their flight at aircanada.com before leaving for the airport.
In order to facilitate changes to travel plans, Air Canada has revised its ticketing policy for customers booked on flights today and tomorrow. Those customers wishing to make alternate travel arrangements can do so without penalty, space permitting, by using Air Canada's self service rebooking tool at aircanada.com, on their mobile device, or by contacting Air Canada Reservations toll free in Canada and the U.S. at 888-247-2262; TTY: 1-800-361-8071 or Air Canada Reservations worldwide. Due to increased call centre volume, wait times will be longer than usual.

Friday, 23 March 2012 Air Canada baggage handlers went on strike today cuasing airline to cancel flights. Airports effected are Toronto, Montreal Trudeau, and Toronto Pearson (passengers sitting on runway for an hr.). Air Canada employees are banned from striking, a rule the government made last week.

24 January 2012 Air Canada's pilot state talks that started in November last year have failed and that Air Canada has walked out of the talks. This could lead to a possible lock out by the management or a walk out by the pilots. This is an old very bitter dispute. Made even more toxic by Air Canada wishing to start a small low cost subsidiary.
