11/25/09 Here's one result in. Unite, 500 engineering and electrical union members will refuse to do overtime over Christmas, not a strike. So we can get around. Starts 7, December, 09 Union members rejected two year pay deal, 1.5 per cent pay rise this year followed by an inflation-plus-0.5 per cent rise in 2010-11. Reminder, don't book a flight with British Airways, Aer Lingus, both really shaky for Christmas and New Year.

The 'Very fair offer':- Two year deal, 1.5% rise in the first year followed by 0.5% the next year. London Underground did not assure jobs which is the sticking point with the RMT. Also working hours and other terms and conditions will remain unchanged....ie:- layoffs.
RMT initialy wanted, no redundancies, 5% pay raise. This offer is an improvement of 0.5% in the first year, from the last offer. Staff like the two year deal.

Buses:-All London's 8,000 buses will be on the roads serving 700 routes. Buses start rolling out of the garages around 5.30am to 6am, the same time the Tube usually starts up. Victoria and Euston bus stations will be a nightmare.
Bike:-Five escorted rides into central London. at 7.45am from Finsbury Park main gate, Mile End Green Bridge, Ravenscourt Park, Brixton Road and Swiss Cottage.Additional parking for bikes and thousands of cycle maps will be distributed across London. Biketube.org

Rail:-Mainline rail services are not affected and will run as usual, as will the Docklands Light Railway and London Overground services will operate as normal. Loud speakers will tell you where to catch buses. Oyster pay as you go accepted on all mainline rail services within Greater London. By road:- Roads and the Congestion Charge to help keep traffic flowing the Congestion Charge will remain in operation through-out the strike and TfL will be suspending road works on major London roads wherever possible. By River:- City Cruises - will be operating a free peak shuttle every 10 minutes between 0700-1000 and 1500-2000 on both main strike days between Westminster - London Eye -Tower Bridge. Thames Clippers - As well as the normal commuter services (between Embankment and Woolwich) Thames Clippers will be providing additional shuttle services between London Bridge and Canary Wharf and between Greenland Pier (Rope St Deptford) and Canary Wharf during the peak morning commute. As usual travel card holders will receive 1/3 off the ticket price.
Futuresource 2009:-Chartered Institution of Wastes Management has announced that special buses will collect delegates from major London overground stations Paddington, Victoria and St Pancras overground stations heading to the event at the Exhibition Centre London (ExCeL) in the Docklands if the proposed strike goes ahead.

Drivers, station staff and engineers are all due to go on strike, which, when combined with the fact that non-RMT staff will refuse to cross picket lines, will bring the tube network to a standstill.

TfL's annual report showed that 123 of its managers earn more than £100,000 a year, with five earning more than £250,000 plus bonuses, the RMT said.
TfL said the union "continues to avoid engaging in any meaningful talks".

5/29/09 Mayor of London Boris Johnson refused to meet with RMT union leaders today. RMT Unions industrial action over a five year plan which involves pay cuts and compulsory redundancies. they prefer five per cent pay rise and a shorter working week.Total breakdown of talks between union and LU. Commuter rail routes will pick up some of the slack.
5/28/09 London Underground strike, 48 hours this time. RMT members on the Tube will walk out from 6.59pm on Tuesday June 9 until 6.58pm on Thursday June 11. Dispute with LU and Transport for London (TfL). Thousands of commuters will be effected.

Victoria Line, on strike, disruption to 600,000 passengers who use the Victoria Line daily, one of London's busiest underground lines. Action, by RMT union members out of Seven Sisters depot in north London. Strike will be for 24 hours starting 9pm Wednesday ending 8.59pm Thursday.
20 April, 2009 London, Tube drivers will strike for 24 hours. Starting, 9pm tomorrow, Tuesday evening,180 drivers, Victoria line one of London's busiest lines. Drivers are from the Seven Sisters depot in north London. LU suggesting passengers take a different route to work and that the strike is unnecessary. RMT union complaint over safety issues.
