Finnair cabin crew based in El Prat have has called for strike action. Similar worker situation that Ryanair passengers are experiencing now.
Some 50 USO union workers will strike on Saturdays and Sundays:-August 18, 19, 25 and 26. September 1 and 2, 2018. (We think Finnair will bring in foreign workers, hopefully you won't even notice)

Barcelona air traffic control have been complaining of staff shortages this year and last.
Very busy, badly run airport.
Air traffic control will strike, each strike will last for 24 hours throughout the summer of 2018.
So far only date announced is Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Your flight could be brought forward, cancelled or delayed till the following day. Expect shortage of hotel rooms, rental cars and the knock-on effect for flights.

Update:-Friday September 8, 2017 Negotiations went very well. Strikes cancelled. Meetings to take place Tuesday 12th. Threat over with for now. Unions state, if talks fail this month they will have no choice but call for strike action end of October.
Update:-Wednesday 30 August, 2017 Strike for the 15th and 17th (only) has been postponed. New meeting is now planned for the 7th with more government presence.

Eulen airport security workers will decide this Sunday whether or not to have more strike action. Meeting, voting to take place between 11am and 6pm. Four or five workers were fired. Union states in revenge to last strike action.

Going back to the recent airport security strike at Barcelona Airport. It is back on again.
Meetings were delayed due to the recent terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils. Meeting planned for Tuesday 22 August management never showed up.

Workers voted today, Thursday to reject new wage deal and maintain strikes for tomorrow, Sunday and indefinite strike from Monday on. We do have some more information for you. 90% of service is to be kept. The lines will be moving.

This is going to be bad if you are traveling to and from the airport. Somehow you know you will get caught up in it. I’d be prepared drivers likely blocking the roads to and from the airport and you may have to hoof it with your suitcase. Railway station blocked. Traffic jams.

Flights will be effected by:-
July 15, 2016 New nationwide French general strike is being planned for Thursday, September 15, 2016. You will be inconvenienced in some shape or form.
Expect taxi, public transportation - trains, (perhaps international trains) metro, buses and maritime workers - ferries to strike along with airline and airport workers. Minimal services will be in effect. You will still be able to get around just don't expect to be on time. Expect traffic jams in Paris, Lyon.
Regarding flights:-
Air France always takes the brunt of any strike action. Ryanair and Vueling may cancel some flights. Prepare for the worst, your French airport exit may be blocked by taxi’s. If so, you will have to "hoof it" with your luggage, children, elderly.
Will French air traffic controllers join in? Unfortunately this information will not be available till closer to the date. It’s customary for air traffic controllers to give 48 hours notice before any industrial action. They might ask airlines to cut back flights to and from France by 10 - 30% or not at all.
27 July 2016 You should know Air France cabin crews are striking as with second busiest airline in France Aigle Azur this week and next.

15 May 2016 Flights from and to Barcelona El Prat Airport will likely be delayed, cancelled or brought forward due to French air traffic control strike.
French air traffic controllers will strike on Thursday May 19, 2016. (and perhaps 26 May?) If strike goes ahead airlines will be asked to cut back flights to and from France. Stay in close contact with your airline. Air France will take brunt of strike action. French national rail company SNCF is also striking.
French taxi drivers are threatening to join in.
If you are changing flights in France and have a long lay over in a French international arrivals lounge. Get a French visa as you will be sleeping on a cot in the lounge while other passengers sleep in a comfortable hotel bed with private bathroom. March 2016 saw 140 passengers sleeping on the floor at Orly Airport.

28 June 2015 3,500 workers who work for Globalia who own Groundforce baggage handling company will strike starting from July 4, 2015.

Ryanair has a baggage handlers strike going on right now at Madrid Airport. Although Ryanair announce that workers are now back to work, airline is still on alert. Ryanair adjusted to this strike by giving passengers a choice of landing in another airport, change flight to a different day or fly with no luggage. Perhaps your airline will follow a similar routine or use managers as handlers or bring in scabs.

Announced today, Tuesday July 2, 2013 Swissport strike, Spanish baggage handlers strike.
Barcelona El Prat July 8 and 15th 8am to midnight. Barcelona El Prat Strikes. it's possible your airline does not use Swissport workers. Prepare for worst, stay in close contact with your airline. Swissport USA, has called for other stoppages, which operates in Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga, Jerez, Almeria, Fuerteventura and Valencia and the load center of Madrid to demand "the fulfillment of several articles Collective Agreement ".
Sunday, June 30 Swissport "sabotage and coercion" by it's "suspected militant union workers . Saturday afternoon, aircraft towing tractors, buses passenger and baggage handling equipment and cargo, damaged during the whole day. Causing 50% delay of flights. Today, Sunday, flights delayed still.

June 27, 2013 Barcelona El Prat airport hit by Swissport employee strike.
28 June - July 15, 2013 Some flights will be diverted to Reus Airport. One hour away. Airlines will supply shuttle buses between the two airports. Airlines recommend "GET TO THE AIRPORT 4 HOURS EARLY".

24 July Announced today strike has been cancelled.
Iberia Airline workers at Barcelona El Prat Airport strike. Handling services and aircraft maintenance workers will strike for six days starting. Workers turn down deal from last month.
Friday, 27 July and every Friday in August.

June 2012 Groundforce Baggage/ramp workers at Barcelona El Prat airport have cancelled strikes planned for July and August. Tentative agreement has been made.
