06-12-2011 Strikes announced by Pilots Union in Portugal
Despite TAP being fully open to dialogue, the pilots union plans to go ahead with the strike scheduled for 9-12 December.
However, in mandatory arbitration undertaken at the behest of the Economic and Social Council, the minimum services listed below have been established, while agreement was not reached on a substantial part of the proposal made by TAP.
At this time no guarantee can be made that flights beyond minimum services will be available. Therefore, we again recommend that passengers who need to make their travel decisions now contact us (707205700) or their travel agents to change their bookings to other dates or request a refund.
TAP is deeply sorry for this situation of uncertainty and the negative impact it has on its passengers, but the company is doing its utmost to minimize the consequences of a situation that is beyond its control.
Minimum Services
Due to the strike called by the Sindicato dos Pilotos da Aviação Civil [Civil Aviation Pilots Union] (SPAC) for the 9th through the 12th of December 2011, we hereby inform the public that, according to the applicable law, the Economic and Social Council has determined that the flights listed below shall be executed during that period:
All scheduled flights to and from the Autonomous Region of the Azores shall operate according to their respective schedules.
Operation of the following four scheduled daily flights on each day of the strike to and from the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

TAP operation with Portugalia (PGA) aircrafts
In addition to the minimum flight services already announced, TAP clarifies, that the flights operated with PGA's aircraft, will be operating within its schedule time, on December 9 to 12.

Another note when Portuguese air traffic controllers strike it seems that even a two hour strike, really messes up the system and flights find it hard to get back to normal. Unlike other air traffic controllers such as France and UK. Perhaps due to more single runways, who knows.
Don't get caught sleeping on the airport floor. Book a hotel. You certainly will have enough time to cancel it if necessary
